My first experience of Green politics was a climate change debate with Jeanette Fitzsimons. She talked about increased storminess in coming decades. She made so much sense that I joined the Greens. Politics putting the planet first and then asking how we humans can live on this beautiful world makes much more sense than seeing the world as a place to exploit for our human-centric purposes.

Part of our response to the now obvious consequences of ignoring our planet’s well-being is building local communities that are connected, resilient and resourceful, which is why I am involved in my local community trust, environmental clean-up groups, and advocating for change locally and nationally. We can reduce the impact of those consequences by building a society with the well-being of planet and people at its heart, caring for how we live, where we live and the future of our people as we work to heal our world.
