Beneath the SurfaceNZ's freshwater fish: victims of climate change and habitat destructionMetiria Turei MP, the Green Party Spokesperson on Conservation will speak about the threats facing New Zealand's Freshwater fish - particularly eels (tuna). It is also an opportunity for those who are interested in Conservation and Environment issues more generally; to meet Metiria, learn more about her work on key issues in Aotearoa, and share ideas and initiatives.At the meeting, Metiria will be accompanied by local Lake Ellesmere Fisherman Clem Smith and NIWA Scientist Don Jellyman.Additionally, we are privileged to be screening the 24-minute film 'Longfin'. Longfin Films is the joint partnership between Lindsey Davidson and Melissa Salpietra, both former students of Otago University's Natural History and Filmmaking Program.
